We Die to Prove That We Lived
The only information I had going into Daytripper was that it was done by the artist who did Umbrella Academy and his brother. That’s it. I didn’t even read the back of the book. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into.
And I had no idea I could fall in love with death.
Daytripper, by twin brothers Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá, tells a beautiful story of Brás de Oliva Domingos, an obituary writer who keeps dying. Over and over. But it’s not his death that is really important, it’s the moments that lead to his death … or do they?
This story touches on love, loss, life, living, death and dying. It skates along something spiritual without ever breaking the surface, leaving you wondering when or even if Brás actually dies in the story, but you realize, it doesn’t matter. Because everyone dies, but not everyone lives.
“No book is complete without its end. And once you get there … only when you read the last words … will you see how good the book is.”
