I’m not a prude, and I’ve never been a prude, but the premise of this book put me off. I’m not sure why, maybe I’m just burnt out of sex for shock value found in a lot of the HBO shows. True Blood is the perfect example, there wasa lot of sex in the book, but whatever they did in the show was just too much. It took one of my favorite book series and turned it into something I hated. Not even Alexander Skarsgård could save it for me, but he tried.

So I think I was worried that Big Hard Sex Criminals would be that.

The premise is that the characters can stop time when they have sex. Weird right? But I’ve got some time right now and it’s a big, bright, pink book. And holy crap, it’s good. It was funny, which was a surprise and it did a really good job tackling taboo topics like sex, hormones, depression and love.  All topics that I think would be less taboo if people just admited that everyone goes through this stuff.

I would recommend checking it out. But be warned, there’s a lot of sex.
