New Website Launch

Dec 11, 2020 | Geekhouse

Well, we did it. After 3 months, 2 weeks and 4 days, David and I completed our new website. It was a ton of work. There was sweat, tears, a lot of swearing and constant nightmares about coding, but we got it done and we are so proud of it. You’re welcome.

So let’s get right into the meat of what we’ve got for you.

Blogs

Talking about all of the geeky things I love is one of my favorite pastimes. This whole being closed thing has really put a damper on sharing with people. I’ve found myself talking about random geek things with grocery store checkers whether or not they want it. I feel for the poor guy on the closing shift at Safeway.

I am so excited to have an outlet to share with you guys again. I’ve mostly been writing about the tv shows and movies we’ve been watching, but I’ve gotten a few board games, graphic novels and computer game posts in there as well. You’ll see a lot more board game reviews now that we are done with the website. Can’t wait to play more games, especially now that Maddy is old enough to hold her own.

Online Store

When we closed, we initially packed everything into boxes and got a couple storage units. Once we decided that 2020 was going to be the year that wasn’t and that we were going to need an online store, we converted our spare room into an office/stock room. Just before we closed in March, we had a massive restock of product and we have been keeping up with new products all year.

For those of you who love to see the numbers…

As of December 1st, 2019 we had $23,015 in product. We had 228 unique board game titles that made up $16,033 of our total.

Today, a year later, we have $52,353 in product. We now have 529 unique board games titles, bringing the game total to $37,911.

In addition to board games, we have increased books and graphic novels, our RPG selection and dice. Most notably, metal and gemstone dice. And all of our customers now have access to it all in our online store!

We are in the process of inputting all kinds of information for all of our products, including designers, illustrators, publishers and video reviews. We hope it will help fill in for not having David and I right there helping you pick out a product. The best part of our online store, David and I will deliver your orders to your door, next day.

What I would have given to have someone deliver games to my door next day … you guys are so lucky.

Virtual Geek Lounge

We have heard from so many of you (thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your emails and text messages just to say you miss Gamagora. It’s meant the world to us) and not having the Members Geek Lounge has been just as hard on you as it has been on us. We are all lacking in the social interaction right now. So, we are excited to launch our Virtual Geek Lounge and get our Members interacting with each other again.

Anyway, all in all, I’m very excited to be doing what I love again, and not building a website anymore. So, get the word out, Gamagora is back (albeit virtually).
